Most people think of bookshelves as purely functional pieces of furniture that blend passively into the decor of a living room or office. The Jack bookshelf, on the other hand, was created based on a bold, minimalist design concept inspired by industry. This sturdy bookshelf, made of garden-grown walnut, also serves perfectly as a display stand: in addition to books, it can easily hold decorative items as well as plants.
Our goal during the design process was to create a piece of furniture in which the natural character of wood is contrasted by the rigidity of the colour-coated square hollow sections—resulting in a multifunctional design piece that makes a strong visual statement both as a freestanding object and when placed against a wall in a spacious interior. Similarly to our other pieces of furniture made out of natural walnut, the Jack bookshelf can be ordered in custom sizes too.
